Mozilla retired Pocket in 2025, and a lot of long-time users are still looking for somewhere to put the links they used to save. If that is you, choose a replacement that fixes Pocket's biggest limitations rather than just cloning them.
What Pocket did well
Pocket was a clean, single-purpose read-it-later app. You saved an article, it stripped the clutter, and you read it later on any device. For long-form reading it was lovely — and that simplicity is worth keeping in whatever you move to.
Where Pocket stopped
Pocket only really handled article links. Photos, videos, PDFs and documents were not the point, so everything that was not a web article lived somewhere else. And your saves sat on Pocket's servers — fine for public articles, less ideal for anything private.
How EZ Save is different
EZ Save is a read-it-later app and a home for everything else you save. Links, photos, videos and documents live together in folders you control, stored in your own iCloud rather than a company's servers. It is less “save this article” and more “save anything, keep it private”.
| Feature | EZ Save | |
|---|---|---|
| Save article links | ✓ | ✓ |
| Save photos, videos & documents | ✗ | ✓ |
| Organise into folders | Limited | ✓ |
| Stored in your own iCloud | ✗ | ✓ |
| Lock behind Face ID / PIN | ✗ | ✓ |
| Available in 2026 | ✗ (shut down) | ✓ |
The verdict: If you only ever saved articles, any read-it-later app will do. If you want one private library for links and everything else, EZ Save is the bigger upgrade.
